Started by 3 partners and I, VashonOrganics.com is now moving into it's second year in business. I currently manage the web store and recently I've been working on search engine optimization, launching an e-newsletter, product feeds, a forum, using XML, XSLT, XHTML, JavaScript and CSS.
Brian Louis, owner of Jade Island Trading Company, approached me in 2003 with the idea of creating an e-commerce site selling imported silks out of Thailand. Initially I worked with him as a consultant, helping him to form the business and setup a small home office. Within a short time, I had Brian up and running with an OScommerce webstore and a PayPal shopping cart system (perfect for his small business, as no merchant account was needed). For 3 years I maintained his website, providing technical assistance and small business consulting when needed.
During this period I participated in various e-commerce projects or directly in web site production. My primary focus was web marketing and search engine optimization. I also acted as director of Back End development for the site, working with employees and back-end programmers to create an efficient and manageable web store.
